Protectors of Atacama

The last lineage of the Atacama Protectors still stands the trials of time. Lascar and Quimal received from their ancestors the customs of the Atacama people, their language and the power to control the Ngen, spirits guardians of the desert.
Lascar is a specialist in tracking and knows the entire Atacama region like the palm of his hand. He uses his Pan Flute and the salt found only in the Salar de Atacama to invoke the Alicanto, a golden-winged Condor spirit, who chases away evil spirits and illegal gold miners, who insist on exploring the desert's riches.
Quimal has all the ancestral medical and spiritual knowledge of the people of Atacama. She has a drum that allows her to invoke healing spirits and uses medicinal herbs that only she can manipulate.

The desert protectors worship Licancabur, the sacred volcano that stretches across the Atacama landscape and brings good fortune and natural balance to the desert.
